Due to sheer stress, Laura almost overslept the written exam of the midwifery exam. She notices that she can no longer cope with her everyday life between the delivery room, university and family. Her big dream - to be there for pregnant women and babies before, during and after birth - is in jeopardy. In the clinic, a highly motivated pregnant woman has an unusual idea.

In the delivery room, a pregnant teenager's water birth demands Laura's full attention. She should actually concentrate entirely on her exams. She would like to park her son Till with her parents. But they have very different plans.

A birth on the birthing stool is completely different than planned for midwifery student Laura. During her practical exams in the delivery room, midwife Ute and Prof. Tegelmann put her in the pincers. Does she still manage to be there for the pregnant women and their babies? And why is a pregnant woman suddenly afraid of the solarium?

Shortly before her oral exam, Laura is confronted with a stillbirth in the delivery room. Now she has to prove whether she really has what it takes to be a midwife. The baby's death becomes a test for the young midwifery student.
