Disturbed, unable to believe it, insomniac, he gives himself fully in the investigation, assisted by Knight. A young man fled, leaving behind her little sister, wandering in the Bois de Vincennes, bloodied his teddy in her arms ...

Falco follows Ménard for days, watching his every move. Since graduating from the coma, the Commissioner lying to him ... Meanwhile, Clara Benetti, twenty-four years, was found dead while she was supposed to have been murdered by a serial killer, Drouet, at the age of six. Where was for eighteen years?

Falco can not accept the death of his best friend, Ménard, a disappearance which deprives him of the truth about their common past. While everyone is mourning the police, a body is found, murdered in what amounts to a Christian ritual. An investigation begins, in which Falco suffers from the distance Romain Chevalier takes with him. Up track of cylinders used to sedate the victim and Bibles distributed by a priory, Falco discovers Samael, the angel of death, a serial killer who is about to hit a fourth time. The policeman deductions allow him to prevent another murder but is now the target of religious fanatic: he, the Risen who has seen God.

While the DPJ is entrusted to a new Commissioner, replacement of Menard Romain disappeared ... Falco receives a video showing him tied and shackled in kilograms of explosives. It serves as a lever to push Falco to help a prisoner escape to local IGS. The policeman began by refusing, but the kidnapper, a woman, extirpated by force Romain enough to tip the balance: Pauline and Carole.
