Willem Kmetsch lives life as an outcast, like a dead man walking, until he happens to land a job as the caretaker of some rather "special" weapons.

Chtholly's bombshell leaves Willem shaken, as he struggles to come to terms with the nature of the "special weapons."

Having learned about Chtholly's impending fate, Willem tries to come up with an alternate plan, much to her chagrin.

Having sent his charges into battle, Willem finds the distraction he so badly needs in the form of a visit to cultural hotpot Corna di Luce.

Phyr details her request to Limeskin, who refuses and asks Willem for a favor of his own.

Willem learns a lot from Souwong and makes a stand. Meanwhile, Chtholly continues to hear the voices in her head...

The warehouse has to deal with the ramifications of Chtholly's condition. At the same time, things begin to unravel on the surface.

As the situation on the surface continues to simmer, Chtholly struggles to come to terms with her new life.

Things continue to get worse for Chtholly, who bravely decides to live in the moment. Meanwhile, the rescue operation to the surface finally begins.

Chtholly helps out around the base as his secretary and gains the adulation of everyone there. Willem, on the other hand, starts having doubts about some unanswered questions after meeting Nopht and Rhantolk.

The situation on the surface heats up as a massive cave is found beneath Gomag City, and lying there is something very unexpected.

A desperate battle unfolds upon the Saxifraga as it tries to escape the attack of timere. Chtholly, clinging to the last pieces of emotions she still possesses, decides to fight.
